That belief didn't start with a company.
It started with a little boy walking through the streets of Old Havana.
Where it all began
Long before Viatis existed, our founder, Víctor Pagés, spent his childhood exploring museums, Spanish fortresses and the cobblestone streets of Old Havana with his grandfather, a historian whose greatest gift was making history come alive.
Those walks shaped the way Víctor sees the world today.
History was never about dates.
It was always about people, ideas and the stories that connect them.
An unexpected turn
Life took Víctor down a different path, he became an accountant and later a lawyer.
But his passion for history never disappeared.
Then one book changed everything.
It inspired him to leave the courtroom behind and start guiding travelers through Havana.
One simple decision became a completely new life.
Between 2017 and 2018, Víctor became the
#1 Guide Worldwide on GuruWalk, leading thousands of travelers through Havana's historic streets.
His experiences were later recognized with Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards and outstanding reviews from guests around the world.
But awards were never the goal.
They were simply the result of doing one thing well:
"Helping people experience history instead of just listening to it."
A new beginning in Panama
When the pandemic brought global tourism to a halt, everything changed.
Like many people in the travel industry, Víctor had to start over.
Life eventually brought him to Panama.
And with it came a new realization:
Panama is one of the most important and most misunderstood countries in the history of the Americas.
Today, Viatis exists to share that story.
Why Viatis?
The name Viatis comes from Latin and means "on a journey."
Because travel is more than moving from one place to another.
It's about seeing the world differently !
Every experience we design is created for travelers who want to understand the culture, the people and the history that shaped Panama. Not simply visit it.

Y antes fui abogado. En 2016 lo dejé para convertirme en guía, siguiendo mi pasión por la historia —gracias a mi abuelo historiador, que me llevó de la mano entre los callejones antiguos, pisando adoquines y fortalezas españolas de La Habana.

Antes de fundar Viatis Tours, fui guía. 🌍 Y antes fui abogado. En 2016 lo dejé para convertirme en guía, siguiendo mi pasión por la historia —gracias a mi abuelo historiador, que me llevó de la mano entre los callejones antiguos, pisando adoquines y fortalezas españolas de La Habana. Esa pasión se hizo vocación cuando leí la autobiografía del escritor uruguayo-cubano Daniel Chavarría —"...Y el mundo sigue andando"— donde contaba cómo se había vuelto guía clandestino del Museo del Prado aprovechando que dominaba varios idiomas. Esa imagen no me la pude sacar de la cabeza. Años después, entre 2017 y 2018, terminé siendo el guía #1 a nivel mundial en Guruwalk —la plataforma global de free tours más grande del mundo, en su etapa fundacional, pero no clandestino 😂— caminando con miles de viajeros por La Habana Vieja contándoles las historias que no salen en las guías.
